Alan D. Butcher was born in Vancouver, B.C. and has been writing all his life. "I wasn't much good at anything else--and my former employers will agree with me on that." He has written advertising copy, worked in the Canadian arctic, and wrote and produced the Chase Almanac for 25 years; he has been everything from office boy to general manager to magazine editor, and operated his own graphic art studio in Toronto for 20 years. He has published three books of non-fiction, has a novel and a memoir awaiting publication, is writing (2011) a new novel, has a book of poetry (The Arctic Sonnets) scheduled for publication in 2012, and is also working on a second book of poetry and an epic poem based on the life of Caesar Borgia. He lives in Cobourg, Ontario.
