Donna E. Smyth was born and grew up in Kimberly, BC, but has lived and worked on the west coast, in Britain, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and for the past 15 years, in Nova Scotia. Her writing is always crossing genres, slipping and sliding around definitions of what is "supposed to be." She now lives on an old farm with many other creatures including goats and two donkeys, Miranda and Jake. She teaches English and creative writing at Acadia University, Wolfville.
