Barry Webster's first book The Sound of All Flesh (Porcupine’s Quill) won the 2006 Relit Award for short fiction and was a finalist for the Hugh MacLennan Prize. His short stories have also been shortlisted for the National Magazine Award and the CBC-Quebec Prize. He has published both fiction and non-fiction in a wide variety of publications including The Washington Post, The Globe and Mail, Event, Fiddlehead and The Toronto Star. Fluent in English, French and some German, Webster has translated a number of his stories into French. He has performed his work on CBC-Radio and at dozens of venues including the Banff Centre, the National Library in Ottawa, New Orleans Saints and Sinners Festival, and at the Taktgalerie Series in Berlin. Webster is also a classically-trained pianist and has two A.R.C.T.’s in from the Royal Conservatory of Music; his repertoire is largely focussed on the Romantics and mid-twentieth century works.
