Born February 3, 1934, at Maberly, Newfoundland. Education: BA (Ed), 1954; BA, 1966; MA in folklore, 1972; all from Memrial University of Newfoundland in St. John's. Taught English and mathematics in various outports and towns in Newfoundland. Taught English, 1972-1989, at Cabot Institute, St. John's. Active in church and community work: Girl Guides, Cancer Society, etc. Married, three children, Peigi, Andrew, and Iain. Two grandsons.
